Cons: Nothing really other than a few sharp rocks in the area

Beginner trail/Inner loop connector – Old Spanish Trail – This trail is relatively flat single track through the desert. It’s a nice warm-up prior to getting to the climb of The Hurl trail. From Old Spanish, continue on blue Diamond until you get to the sign indicating The Hurl on the left.

The Hurl – We intentionally rode this trail from the Hwy 160 side because we had heard that the climb was much easier. It was still a tough climb with a few technical sections that some of us walked. There is a great view of the Red Rock Canyon area once you get to the top. The descent was enjoyable but difficult with many sharp rocky obstacles. I was really glad to have a dropper on my bike.

Blue Diamond-Rubber Ducky – From the bottom of the Hurl, you can continue on the Blue Diamond trail to Rubber Ducky Trail. There are a few washes to ride through and some fun rock gardens to ride. Look for the Ducky sign. You’ll be rewarded with a Joshua tree full of rubber duckies.

Getting To The Trail: (from Las Vegas)

Cottonwood Valley Trail System trailhead (near Red Rock Canyon) is located 17 miles west of the Las Vegas Strip on Charleston Boulevard/State Route 159.
