Main Content: The Sand Flats Recreation Area near Moab is not actually a trail system, but it is home to two of the most amazing mountain bike rides in the world.  The Slickrock and Porcupine Rim bike trails are famous for their combination of challenge and breathtaking scenery. This area is a high plain of slick rock domes, bowls and fins. You'll witness amazing views of colorful mesas, deep river valleys and and the early 13,000 foot peaks of the La Sal Mountains. The Sand Flats Recreation Area is a multi-use area managed through a partnership between Grand County and the Bureau of Land Management. In addition to mountain bike trails, it has over 40-miles of jeep trails and is also popular for camping. Over 100,000 visitors enjoy this 9,000-acre recreation area annually.
